(3)Train ticket prices in the UK are a complete joke. When I compared it earlier, it cost me 30 pounds (about $60,000) to fly to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, and 120 pounds ($240,000) to take the train with a weekend discount.This is because the country became the spearhead of neoliberalism during the Thatcher era and sold off state-owned enterprises. But that doesn’t mean the railroads aren’t taxed. Lines that are losing money or claim to be losing money are heavily subsidized, and individual companies don’t invest in their lines, so they are managed and maintained by the government at taxpayer expense.
(4)It ends up costing a lot of money in taxes, and most people don’t use it because it’s expensive, and only use it for company-subsidized business trips by car or plane.
(5)What about electricity and gas? They are private companies.
(6)Earlier this winter, my heating bill was £423, or about $80.
(7)Thatcher, the Iron Lady, is the one who made Britain a place where ordinary people can’t afford to live and only financiers can live well. When I was young, I read a biography of Thatcher in Korea, and I want to burn it.
